FAMILY LAW/DIVORCE
1. FEES?
Our firm typically charges
a flat rate of $1,000.00 (plus filing fees) for an uncontested
divorce with no property or children and $1,500.00 (plus
filing fees) for a uncontested divorce with property and
children. A contested divorce is billed at an hourly rate of
$175.00 per hour for attorney time and start with a normal
retainer of $2,000.00. Depending upon the amount of time
needed to complete the process, this retainer may be used
quickly. For example, a contested divorce with children is
typically more expensive than without children. A husband and
wife should use the expense of a contested divorce as a
motivation to work toward an amicable dissolution.
If the parties
agree on every issue, they can typically use just one law firm
to prepare the paperwork.
