3. What medical benefits
are available under workers’ compensation?
Under the Florida law,
your employer and/or workers’ compensation insurance
company is required to provide employees injured on the
job with prompt medical care. This may include visits with
specialists, diagnostic testing and even surgery. Only medical
conditions caused by your work related injury are covered
by workers’ compensation. The employer/insurance company
is required to provide you with one or more authorized treating
physicians to treat you for your work related injuries.
Sometimes the employer/insurance company refuses to provide
an authorized treating doctor or refuses to provide medical
care or testing recommended by the authorized treating doctor.
If this happens, the assistance of an attorney may be required.
